
Training camp begins March 9; Peanut Farm offering free shuttle to preseason game

Training Camp Begins March 9 With the 2009 season kick off merely weeks away, the Alaska Wild will begin the IFL season with training camp on Monday, March 9. With the local players continuing to train, the first arrival was Sunday with linebacker Joe "The Predator " Small. Training camp will begin bright and early on March 9, at 6 A.M. sharp at the AT&T Sports Pavilion. All practices are open to the public and below is a schedule for the first two weeks:

Peanut Farm to provide free shuttle to Wasilla for preseason game and all 2009 home games The "Official Post Game Headquarters" of the Alaska Wild, the Peanut Farm, will be providing a shuttle to and from the Wasilla Sports Complex for the preseason game on Tuesday, March 17. Fans will be able to board the shuttle free with a St. Patrick's day Peanut Farm receipt. The shuttle will be leaving to Wasilla at 5:30 P.M. The Peanut Farm will also be providing a free shuttle to and from all 2009 Alaska Wild home games and showing all Wild away games LIVE. We'll see you and the Alaska Wild at The Farm!
St. Patrick's Day Preseason Game presented by Inlet Tower Hotel and Suites and Mixx Grill Alaska Wild vs. Fairbanks Grizzlies The Indoor Football League in-state rivalry, now coined the Borealis Championship Series, kicks off with the first ever preseason professional football game in Alaska. The Wild head to the Mat-Su Valley and take on the Fairbanks Grizzlies on St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17 at the Curtis Menard II Memorial Arena at the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex. Get your first look at the 2009 AK Wild as they take on a Grizzlies squad full of new faces. Tickets for the St. Patrick's Day Preseason Game presented by Inlet Tower Hotel and Suites and Mixx Grill are on sale at the Alaska Wild office in Anchorage at 510 W. Tudor Rd. Ste 2 and at Aesthetic Family Dentistry in Wasilla at 1551 W Parks Hwy (Across From SBS) and the Alaska Avalanche office at the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex. Wild add to training camp roster, sign nine from AIFFL With Alaska Indoor Flag Football League annually having a larger and larger impact in the football community of South Central Alaska, the Wild continued to use the league as a developmental pool by signing seven local products to the training camp roster.
Quarterback Earl Mason (6'4", 215), of Somerville, Alabama who has led the Wild flag football team to a 6-2 AIFFL finish and passed for 36 touchdowns to only six interceptions and also played semipro in the NCFL for the North Bay Rattlers for three years and was the 2006 Offensive MVP.
Former Dimond All-State offensive player Kenard Walker (5'8",180) signed with the Wild at running back. Also signed at running back were Montell Massenburg (5'10", 220) and Terrance Thompson (5'11", 215).
The Wild signed local athlete Rickey Brown (6'2", 220), who was an All-Cook Inlet Conference wide receiver at East. I remember seeing Rickey dunk at Hanshew Junior High ...in 7th grade. WR Dave Brown (6'3", 190) signed on Monday as well.
Also signed to the training camp roster were defensive backs James Kelly (5'10", 195), Kendall McVay (5'10, 160), Nick Johnson (5'8", 165), and Deryl Pilcher (5'8", 170). Johnson played for the AAFL's Anchorage Raiders and brings athletisicm and a physical style of play and Pilcher is a speedy former Dimond standout. With the 40 players coming to camp, only 35 will play in the preseason game and only 21 will make the game day roster. Wild market research survey winner: Faye Kelly Congratulations to new Sideline Club season ticket holder Faye Kelly, who completed a Wild fan survey in November and was randomly chosen to win two 2009 Sideline Club season tickets, two VIP passes and a VIP Parking Pass. Said Kelly, who attended the very first Wild game, "I can't believe it. It was just a few minutes of my time a few months ago, and now I get to see every game!."
