Toyota Field to Host U.S. Men's National Team for International Friendly on January 20

SAN ANTONIO - Toyota Field will host an international friendly between the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) and Slovenia on Saturday, January 20, 2024, the club announced today. The match will kick off at 2 p.m. CT and be broadcast on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max and Peacock. Live Spanish-language audio of the match will be available on Fútbol de Primera radio platforms.

"This is a celebratory moment in Toyota Field's history," said Jose Lizardo, Director of Toyota Field and STAR Soccer Complex. "Hosting the U.S. Men's National team is a tremendous honor for Spurs Sports & Entertainment and all of South Texas. San Antonio FC fans know the incredible home field advantage Toyota Field showcases weekly, and we are thrilled for it to be on full display for U.S. Soccer supporters across the country."

This marks just the second time U.S. Soccer will host a match in the venue of a club currently playing in the United Soccer League during the modern era. Toyota Field has hosted several Liga MX matches, and earlier this year the stadium held an international friendly between San Antonio FC and Sunderland AFC of the EFL Championship.

As part of our core mission to grow the game, we think it's important to bring the National Teams to different markets across the United States as well as showcase the great work being done at all levels of the sport," said U.S. Soccer Chief Commercial Officer Dave Wright. "San Antonio certainly deserves that recognition, and we'd like to thank the City of San Antonio, Spurs Sports & Entertainment, and San Antonio FC for their incredible partnership and support to date. The match against Slovenia promises to be great showcase for soccer in South Texas."

Tickets for the international friendly will go on sale on to the general public on Monday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. CT on Ticketmaster. For access to the exclusive presale beginning Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. CT, fans can join U.S. Soccer Insiders.

The USA is coming off a 4-2 aggregate win over Trinidad and Tobago in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals, with which the USMNT advanced in the tournament while also clinching its berth to the prestigious 2024 Copa America, which will be hosted in the United States next summer.

Slovenia recently qualified for the UEFA Euro 2024 championship, finishing tied on points with Group H winners Denmark. The USA and Slovenia have met twice in international competition, including a 2-2 draw during the group phase of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The USMNT has played in San Antonio twice winning both games, the last time being a 2-0 win over Mexico in an international friendly on April 15, 2015, at the Alamodome. Prior to that the U.S. squad defeated Costa Rica 1-0 at Northeast Stadium in 1988.
