Torrington Titans News Release

Chelmsford, Mass. - On Monday, the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England (FCBL) announced that the Torrington Titans have been acquired by Torrington Baseball Group LLC, and will now play in the Futures League circuit. The team will be operated by New York City based Carminucci Sports Group (CSG). CSG's C.E.O., Chris Carminucci, is a Southbury, CT resident. Pending City Council approval, the Titans will continue to play their home games at Fuessenich Park, which has a long history of Summer Collegiate baseball in New England.

The Titans will join the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, the Seacoast Mavericks and the Nashua Silver Knights in the inaugural season of the FCBL. CSG currently operates the Brockton Rox of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, the Martha's Vineyard Sharks in the FCBL, along with the Western Connecticut Baseball Academy operated out of the Newtown Youth Academy in Newtown, CT. "We are truly excited about the opportunity to keep the Titans in Torrington. The community has had great success on and off the field with summer collegiate baseball and we plan to continue that tradition," Carminucci said.

The FCBL provides student-athletes from New England and New England Colleges the opportunity to compete and play with the elite players from across the country and to promote them to MLB organizations. Each roster must contain at least 13 players from New England or from a New England University/College. In addition, the Futures Collegiate Baseball League will provide a family friendly, affordable, and fun experience for the communities that we play in, in a minor league style setting.

Opening day for the 2011 season is scheduled for Thursday, June 9; the season will run through early August. The FCBL plans to announce their schedule in the coming days. You can visit the league's website at www.thefuturesleague.com.
