Torres Pitches Quakes to 2-0 Victory over Storm

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Winners of four of their last five games, the Quakes got on the scoreboard first on Friday night as Rian Kiniry walked with one out and Hector Estrella followed with an RBI triple to grab a 1-0 lead.

Major League rehabber Shane Loux started for the Quakes, but threw just 30 pitches in his outing, allowing a double and two walks. Mike Kenney relieved Loux in the 2nd with two runners on and none out and walked a batter before retiring the side by striking out Major League rehabber Scott Hairston.

The Quakes added to their lead in the bottom of the 6th with two outs as Carlos Colmenares tripled to right field to score Clay Fuller to make the score 2-0.

Regularly scheduled starter Alexander Torres took over in the third inning and dominated the Storm hitters over the next six innings, scattering five hits while striking out six. Ysmael Carmona came in for relief in the 9th after Torres walked the lead off batter and retired all three batters he faced to preserve the 2-0 win.

The Quakes will play game three of their four-game-series against the Lake Elsinore Storm at the Epicenter Saturday. Game three will feature right hander Jeremy Thorne against left hander Cory Luebke. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
