
Torquato and Gazdic Return

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced today that forwards Zack Torquato and Luke Gazdic have been re-assigned to the team by their National Hockey League clubs.
Torquato was returned to the Otters from the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp while Gazdic comes back from Dallas where he participated in the Stars Training Camp.
Torquato, selected in the sixth round (178th overall) by the Wings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, returns as one of the most experienced players on the Otters roster. The 19 year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario finished second in Otters scoring last season with 25 goals and 42 assists for 67 points in 66 games. In 196 career OHL games Torquato has collected 74 goals and 99 assists for 173 points.
Gazdic, taken in the sixth round (172nd overall) by the Stars in 2007, returns to the Otters for his third season with the club. Last season the 19 year-old Toronto, Ontario native collected 17 goals and 12 assists for 29 points and 144 minutes in penalties in 67 games. In 125 career OHL games Gazdic has registered 22 goals and 20 assists for 43 points as well as 280 minutes in penalties.
Both players are scheduled to available Friday when the Otters travel to Guelph to face the Storm to complete a three-game season-opening road trip. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
The Otters 2008-09 Home Opener is this Saturday when the defending OHL Champion Kitchener Rangers visit the Tullio Arena for a 7 p.m. start presented by Taco Bell.
