Toros Win Their GBL Best 14th Straight Game 12-4

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros defeated the Yuma Scorpions 14-2 Friday night to extend their winning streak to 14 consecutive games, the longest winning streak in the Golden Baseball League this season.

Toros starter James Garcia looked strong throughout the game, holding Yuma scoreless for the first 4 frames while Tucson jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Garcia finished allowing 4 runs (2 earned) in 6 2/3 innings of work. Yuma pushed across 3 runs in the 7th inning with a bases loaded walk and a Toros error.

Tucson answered back with a huge 7-run rally in the bottom of the 7th that featured 3 consecutive RBI hits by Infielders Cristobal Santana, Wally Backman Jr. and C Luis Apodaca later followed by a 3-run shot to right by CF Josh Womack that put the Toros up 11-4. Womack's home run was his 7th of the season.

Garcia received a no decision but reliever Reid Price, who followed with 1 1/3 scoreless innings earned his 3rd win of the season.

The Tucson Toros will play their last game of the season on Saturday against Yuma when they will attempt to wrap up the year with their 15th straight victory. Saturday will also mark the culmination of the Toros Plane Giveaway in which one lucky fan will win a Cessna airplane. Gametime is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
