Tucson Toros News Release

Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros walked off on the Edmonton Capitals 4-3 in the 11th inning, scoring the winning run on an E4. The victory was the 8th straight for the Toros, who extended their franchise record longest streak since joining the GBL.

Tucson scored first when C Luis Apodaca drove in a run with an RBI groundout that put the Toros up 1-0 after 2 innings. Edmonton tied the game up the following inning after an RBI single by SS Enrique Cruz.

The Toros went back on top as an error by 3B Alex Prieto allowed a run to score for Tucson, putting them up 2-1 in the 5th inning. However, the Capitals would regain the advantage 3-2 with two unearned runs in the 6th.

The Capitals held on to their lead until the 9th inning when Toros SS Ryan Priddy delivered on a 0-2 count for an RBI single to left that tied the game up at 3 to send it to extras.

Tucson led the 10th off with a pair of back-to-back singles by LF Francisco Plasencia and C Luis Apodaca. With the runners at the corners, CF Josh Womack hit a hard ground ball to second base that 2B Matt Rogelstad mishandled, allowing Plasencia to score the winning run to give Tucson a 4-3 win.

The game as whole was more of a pitcher's duel between Toros starter John Bannister and Capitals starter Chris Little as both batting orders struggled to put up any big innings against the opposing pitcher.

Little struck out 5 Toros threw 5 innings of work while allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits. Bannister worked around 7 walks (1 intentional) in 7 innings, allowing just 3 unearned runs while striking out 5.
