
Toros Top Edmonton in 7-4 Win

Edmonton, CAN* - The Tucson Toros outslugged the Edmonton Capitals in a 7-4 win Saturday night.
The Toros got off to an early 4-0 lead in the second inning with an RBI single by catcher Luis Apodoca and a three run blast by center fielder Josh Womack. Womack finished the night going 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Tucson would add another run in the 6th to take a 5-0 lead.
The Capitals answered back in the bottom of the 6th inning with 3 runs to cut the lead to two. Capitals first baseman Cliff Brumbaugh drilled a two RBI double to right centerfield and would later come around to score to get Edmonton on the board. An additional run in the bottom of the 7th inning was all the Capitals could muster up as the Toros scored an insurance run in the 9th to seal the 7-4 victory.
The Toros offense was stellar for the second night in a row. SS Ryan Priddy had 3 hits on the night to match Womack. Catcher Luis Apodoca had an impressive offensive performance, batting 2-for-3 with 1 run and 2 RBI. Second baseman Jose Valdez extended his hitting streak to 5 games with a single in the 2nd inning.
Starter John Bannister improved to 5-3 with a strong performance going 8 solid innings. Emiliano Fruto finished the 9th to nab his 14th save of the year.
The Toros will play game two of the four game series against the Edmonton Capitals Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. (Tucson Time).
