Tucson Toros News Release

Tucson, AZ-The Tucson Toros lost 10-8 to the Armada on Saturday, but a crowd of 9,038 fans set a new all-time Golden Baseball League attendance record previously held by Edmonton.

The record crowd was treated to fireworks both during and after the game. Toros Catcher Luis Apodaca was runover by Long Beach DH J.J. Sherrill in the top of the 3rd when he attempted to score from second base. Apodaca was visibly shaken and left the game with a sizeable gash on his head.

The Toros were led offensively by CF Andre Marshall who went 5-5 with 3 RBIs, he was a double short of the cycle. Dustin Yount kept up his hot hitting of late going 3-4 with an RBI, all this coming the day after he homered twice in one game.

Toros starter Jason Jacome turned in a solid performance going 6 innings allowing 3 ERs, but was ultimately given a no decision.

Long Beach was led by SS Omar Bramasco who went 4-5 with 2 RBIs. Game time for tomorrow is scheduled for 7:00 pm. It is "Lima Time" in Tucson as the Toros will get their first look at former Big Leaguer Jose Lima, as he gets the start for the Armada. Fans will definitely be treated to an interesting performance as Lima is known for his wacky antics on the field.
