Tucson Toros News Release

St. George, UT - The Tucson Toros lost the first game of the roadtrip to St. George 15-6 on Tuesday in what was a battle of the offenses. Bruce Hurst Field in St. George lived up to it's reputation of being hitter friendly with the two sides combining for 26 hits and 21 runs.

Tucson starter Vince Davis had his 3-game winning streak snapped with a rough outing in which he allowed 9 runs in 4 innings of work to take the loss. Davis did help himself at the plate however by becoming the first Toros Pitcher to hit a home run when he launched a solo shot to lead off the top of the 5th. Davis is now 5 for his last 6 at the plate after going 4-for-4 in his previous start in Tijuana.

In addition to allowing 16 hits, walks were also an issue for the Tucson moundsmen as Davis, Jason Hanna and Brian Daly combined for 9 walks and a hit batsman.

Shortstop Ryan Priddy, hit in the leadoff spot for the first time the season, started the game off with his team leading 4th home run. Priddy finished with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Rightfielder Francisco Plasencia drove in a pair and had 2 hits in his third straight game. Plasencia is now hitting .375 with with 5 RBI in 4 games since joining the Toros.

The Toros and Roadrunners play the second game of the 3 game series in St. George on Wednesday. Tucson's next homestand will begin with a Fireworks Friday on June 25th at 7:00 p.m. against Maui.
