Toronto Marlies News Release
Last Week
The Toronto Marlies were in action three times this past week, continuing their hunt for a playoff spot. Action began Wednesday when the Marlies welcomed the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to Ricoh Coliseum, AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. The Phantoms and Marlies would engage in a closely contested affair; however it would be Lehigh Valley's Nick Cousins recording a hat- trick that would give the Phantoms the 4-3 victory.
The Marlies returned to action Saturday evening in Adirondack for the last meeting between the two clubs in Glens Falls N.Y., before the Flames relocate to Stockton next season. The Marlies would fall behind 4-1 in the first period but battled back within one goal on a two goal effort from William Nylander. One goal would be the closest the Marlies would come, falling 5-4 to the Flames. The Marlies last game was on Sunday when they met the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Bell Center in Montreal, home of the Bulldogs NHL affiliate, the Montreal Canadiens. Ryan Rupert scored in the first period while Christopher Gibson was stellar, turning aside 29 shots, to shut out the Bulldogs 2-0.
