Quinn, who has coached the Maple Leafs for the last six years, was the head coach for the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team which captured the 2002 Olympic Gold Medal at the Salt Lake Games. It was Canada's first Gold medal in the last 50 years of Olympic competition.

This past summer he led Team Canada to the World Cup of Hockey championship.

"We are very proud to welcome Pat Quinn as our keynote speaker for the 2005 Central Hockey League All-Star Banquet," CHL President Brad Treliving said. "He has experienced tremendous success at every level of the NHL as a player, Coach, General Manager and Team President in addition to his accomplished career on the International stage."

Earlier this year Quinn became just the fourth coach in NHL history to win 600 games. His career NHL coaching record is 616-466-154 for a winning percentage of .561 and he is fourth on the NHL coaching ranks with those 616 victories.

Before being named head coach of the Maple Leafs, Quinn spent the previous 11 seasons at the helm of the Vancouver Canucks' hockey operation. He also was the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Quinn's teams have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final in 1980 (Flyers) and 1994 (Canucks). He has won the Jack Adams Award on two occasions (1980, 1992) and is one of only four coaches (Scotty Bowman, Pat Burns, Jacques Lemaire) in league history to earn the award with two different teams. Quinn has been selected as a head coach for the NHL All-Star game on four occasions (1981, 2000, 2002, and 2004). He was named the Hockey News Coach of the Year on two occasions (1980, 1992) and the Hockey News Executive of the Year in 1992. Quinn was also named the Sporting News Coach of the Year on two occasions (1980, 1992).

Laredo Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski played for Quinn with the Los Angeles Kings during the 1984-85 NHL season.

"Pat Quinn is one of the most highly respected people you can find in hockey," Ruskowski said. "He brings tremendous class and knowledge of the game of hockey. He is one of the best coaches I ever had. He was always honest with the players. It was a pleasure to play for him and I am looking forward to seeing him in Laredo at the All-Star Game Banquet."

Quinn also played with the Maple Leafs. He spent the 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons in a Toronto uniform. In 99 games with the Maple Leafs, the defenseman collected 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) with 183 penalty minutes. He also served as a player on Vancouver's inaugural team in 1970-71 and he later played with the Atlanta Flames for five seasons. In 606 career NHL games from 1968-69 to 1976-77 he collected 131 points (18 goals, 113 assists) with 950 penalty minutes.

While playing in Vancouver, Quinn earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from York University in 1972. He also has a law degree from Widener University, Delaware School of Law.

He is active in the community holding his annual Pat Quinn and Friends golf tournament with the proceeds going to Kids Help Phone, RCMP Drugs and Sport and the Canadian Hockey Association. Over the past five years the event has raised $265,000.
