Oakley CHL Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

Left winger Jason Duda of the Central Hockey League leading Wichita Thunder and netminder David Guerrera of the defending Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks have been selected as the Week 11 recipients of the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week awards. Duda exploded for nine points in three Thunder wins, while Guerrera was perfect for the Bucks in posting back-to-back shutouts.
The Thunder added three wins to their CHL-best total of 22, and Duda figured prominently in the victories over Fort Worth, Tulsa and Colorado. He set up linemate Travis Clayton for both Wichita goals in a 2-1 victory at Fort Worth on December 30th, then enjoyed his second four point night of the season with two goals and a pair of assists in a 5-4 shootout win over visiting Tulsa on New Year's Eve. Saturday, the CHL All-Star selection was again dominant on home ice, scoring the overtime game winner and adding a pair of assists in a 5-4 extra frame win over Colorado.
Guerrera, the 2003-04 CHL Rookie of the Year and Playoff Most Valuable Player for Laredo, was outstanding in his first significant action in nearly a month, making 24 saves in a 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley on December 31st. He began 2005 in similar fashion, posting a 19-save 2-0 shutout at Austin on New Year's Day. Guerrera also set a team franchise record by running his shutout streak to 144:17, dating back to December 2nd, and would become the CHL record holder with an additional 77:45 of scoreless play, challenging the current mark of 221:01 set by
Shawn Silver of Indianapolis in 02/03.
