Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC announced Thursday that they have released defender Marco Velez.
"We wish Marco all the best in the future, but we needed to make some changes going forward into the final stretch of the regular season," said manager, director of soccer Mo Johnston.
Velez, 29, was signed as a free agent March 19, 2008. He leaves Toronto with 38 appearances, 31 of those as a starter. The defender compiled 2,753 minutes and finishes with two goals, four cautions, and two ejections.
