March 18, 2010 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC announced Thursday that seats in the new expanded North End Patio at BMO Field will go on sale to the public Wednesday, March 24 beginning at 10 a.m. Season Seat Holders and those on the Waiting List will get the first chance to buy the new tickets earlier in the week. With the addition of the new seats, the capacity of BMO Field will be just under 21,800. Final capacity will be determined once the seats are installed.
The North End expansion construction began in late February and is slated to be completed in time for the April 15th match versus Philadelphia. The stands are elevated ensuring a great view of the pitch, with prices ranging from $40-$60 for regular MLS games. There will also be two new rows of seating installed directly behind the goal, elevated slightly from field level.
"Even before we played our first match, fans have been crying out for more opportunities to see Toronto FC," said senior director business operations, Paul Beirne. "We can't wait until April 15 to welcome the best fans in MLS back to BMO Field. The new seating, all the improvements in the stadium, combined with the grass pitch, has us really excited for the start of our 2010 season."
The North End has become a very popular place for Toronto FC fans to watch the action, and team is pleased to announce the "Carlsberg Patio" will remain a fixture at BMO Field with a number of improvements. Fans will have the ability to mingle beneath the seating and with the concourse stretching all the way back to the Food Building; additional washroom facilities will be added. Being situated under the stands, the patio is now covered from the elements and will feature eight TV's complete with full in-house sound so fans don't miss any of the match. Two new barbeque locations will be added to the area, along with additional beer sales locations.
The 2010 MLS season kicks off for Toronto on Saturday, March 27 in Columbus where they will take on the Crew in a 4 p.m. ET kick that will be broadcast on GOLTV. The home opener at BMO Field is set for Thursday, April 15 in an 8 p.m ET start also on GOLTV, and to U.S. audiences on ESPN2.
