Toronto FC Announces 2008 MLS Broadcast Schedule

Toronto FC announced Thursday that all 30 games of Toronto FC's regular season MLS games will be televised for the second straight year.

"We are thrilled to welcome back Major League Soccer on CBC, Rogers Sportsnet and The Score," said Tom Anselmi, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment executive vice-president and chief operating officer. "Entering our second season in MLS we're happy to provide our passionate fans the chance to follow the team throughout the entire season."

Canada's national network, CBC leads the way with a 15-game broadcast package that will feature the 2008 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game in July held at BMO Field in Toronto, the team's home opener April 19 versus Real Salt Lake and five games against Eastern Conference rivals. Other matches include David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy's visit on May 31, expansion side San Jose Earthquakes first visit to BMO Field on July 19 as former Toronto midfielder Ronnie O'Brien makes his first appearance since being traded, and back to back MLS Cup Champion Houston Dynamo on September 27.

CBCSports.ca will also provide live and on-demand coverage of all MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER ON CBC broadcasts, in addition to Toronto FC and MLS highlights, while CBC Country Canada will provide live simulcast coverage of 7 games as well as coverage of Toronto taking on Real Salt Lake on July 28.

Rogers Sportsnet will air eleven games this season, including Toronto FC's kick off to the season in Columbus, Ohio as TFC and over 2000 of their supporters make the trip to take on the Crew. Nine of the eleven games shown by Rogers will be on the road, and include the team's final game of the regular season in northern California against San Jose.

The Score will help round out the Toronto FC broadcast schedule airing 5 games. The first game shown on the network will be the team's April 13th visit to L.A. to take on the Galaxy. They will also team up with ESPN to show the Thursday night game on May 1 in the eagerly anticipated matchup between Juan Pablo Angel and the New York Red Bulls at BMO Field.
