Worcester Tornadoes News Release

Worcester, MA - September 14th, 2009 - The 2009 Worcester Tornadoes will begin their work towards a second CanAm League title Tuesday against Quebec's Eric Gagne, one of their most formidable opponents of the 2009 season.

Gagne, who signed with the Quebec Capitales in June, will return to the hill in Worcester for only the second time this season. Most fans will remember Gagne's career as a Los Angeles Dodger and member of the 2007 Red Sox bullpen. Gagne earned the Dodgers' franchise record for career saves (161) and won the National League Cy Young Award in 2003.

Gagne marks the first challenge for the Worcester Tornadoes as they attempt to transform their first-round sweep of the New Jersey Jackals into a league championship. Games one and two of the Championship series will be played at Hanover Insurance Park Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. The best-of-five series will be decided at Quebec with games three, four, and five all taking place at Stade Municipal.

With the Worcester Tornadoes returning from New Jersey with a three game winning streak and the last two home games of the 2009 season happening this week, Tornadoes tickets are going fast.
