Tornadoes Receive RHP Dan Sausville in Trade
March 8, 2012 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, Mass-- The Worcester Tornadoes acquired RHP Dan Sausville from a trade with the Laredo Lemurs for a player to be named later. Dan spent the last three seasons with Les Quebec Capitales, but was traded to the Laredo Lemurs in February with Josh Colafemina for two players to be named later.
Sausville has a 26-18 record as a professional player, with all but one season spent in the CanAm League. He registered a career-low ERA of 3.11 in 2010, his first full season as a starting pitcher. That summer, Dan reached career-highs in innings pitched and strikeouts, while notching his lowest homer rate and best strikeout to walk rate to date.
The Schenectady, NY native made four starts against the Tornadoes in 2011, going 2-1 with a no decision in 22.1 innings pitched. His best outing against Worcester was one of two 7-inning, 1-run efforts on the season.
This is the second trade involving a pitcher for the Tornadoes this off-season. Freddy Flores was sent to the El Paso Diablos in exchange for cash in late January. The Tornadoes also struck a deal with the Lemurs in mid-February, netting JB Brown and cash for shortstop Dom Ramos. Worcester has traded both players acquired from the Brockton Rox Dispersal Draft during the 2011 holiday season: Julian Sampson (to acquire Ramos) and Flores.
The 2012 season starts in Newark, NJ on Thursday May 17. The first Tornadoes home game is Monday May 21 at 7:05pm against the Quebec Capitales. Season and Group Tickets are available now in our offices at 303 Main St. and via phone: (508) 792-2288. Individual Game Tickets will go on sale at a later date.
