
Tornadoes ink two more pitchers

Worcester, MA -- The Worcester Tornadoes have announced that they have come to terms with right-handed pitchers P.J. Bevis and Chris Gale on contracts for the 2007 season.
Bevis, 26, is a former member of both the New York Mets' and Arizona Diamondbacks' 40-man rosters. A native Australian, Bevis has compiled a career 27-34 record and a 4.12 Earned Run Average in 275 games (including 38 starts) during eight seasons in the Diamondbacks, Mets and Rockies organizations. Bevis reached as high as the AAA level in each of the '03-'05 seasons while pitching in the Mets and Rockies systems. With a fastball reaching the mid-90s in his arsenal, Bevis has averaged nearly a strikeout-per-inning over the course of his professional career.
Gale, 26, joins the Tornadoes after spending the last two seasons as a member of the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the independent Golden League. A University of Virginia product, Gale has a career 7-9 record and a 5.32 ERA. He is the son of former Major League pitcher and current Albuquerque Isotopes (AAA-Pacific Coast League) Pitching Coach Rich Gale.
The signings of Bevis and Gale bring the number of Tornadoes players under contract for the 2007 season to 22. All Tornadoes players will report to Worcester on Friday, May 11 for physicals at St. Vincent's Hospital. The first full-squad workout will take place the following day, on Saturday, May 12 at 9am.
