Worcester Tornadoes News Release
Worcester, MA -- NewsTalk 580 WTAG has started another chapter in their long broadcast history in Central Massachusetts. Tornadoes fans can now hear every game in 2008 on the FM dial at 94.9. WTAG has acquired the rights to simulcast their programming with FCC approval to help fill in gaps in the AM signal to better serve their listeners and advertisers in their coverage area.
"WTAG has always been at the forefront of changes in technology over the years," said WTAG Program Director George Brown. "In addition to the AM signal and live streaming on the web, this provides listeners with another option to hear all of their favorite shows no matter where they live."
WTAG will air all 94 Tornadoes regular season games, 3 exhibition games and any playoff games in which the Tornadoes might participate. All games can also be heard live online via WTAG.com or by clicking on the broadcast link on the Tornadoes website, www.worcestertornadoes.com.
Jeremy Lechan will return to the broadcast booth for his third season as the play-by-play voice of the Tornadoes. As in 2007, the '08 game broadcasts will include a 15-minute pregame show, featuring player and coach interviews, and a ten-minute postgame show.
WTAG has been on the air since 1924, and has a rich tradition of airing sporting events. In addition to carrying all Tornadoes games, the radio station is currently the home of Holy Cross football and basketball, Worcester Sharks hockey, Sunday and Monday Night Football, the NFL Playoffs and the Super Bowl.
The Tornadoes' 2008 campaign begins on the road at on Thursday, May 22. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm. Worcester's home opener will take place a week later, on Thursday, May 29, also against the Skyhawks. First pitch is set for 6:05pm. All the action can be heard live on WTAG 580 AM, 94.9 FM and online at www.wtag.com.
