CHARLOTTE, Nc. - South Georgia Tormenta FC came into the weekend needing a win on the road against the Charlotte Independence and a Forward Madison FC loss or draw against Union Omaha to secure the final position in the USL League One Playoffs.

Tormenta and Charlotte both had opportunities during the first 45 to score, but neither team was able to find the back of the net and entered the half-time break at 0-0.

South Georgia ended up behind early in the second half after an Independence shot deflected off of Preston Kilwien into the back of the net to put the host ahead 1-0 in the 52nd minute.

TFC leveled the match ten minutes later after Davey Mason whipped in a cross to the far post that found Jackson Khoury to rise above the Charlotte defender and head the ball past the outstretched keeper.

Tormenta was unable to put another past Charlotte to the lead in the final minutes of the game, despite bringing on attacking substitutions in the likes of Arthur Bosua and Pedro Fonseca.

With the draw, South Georgia finished the season with a 12-14-6 (W-L-D) record, leaving the team with 42 points. Tormenta missed the playoffs, finishing just one point behind Forward Madison FC who lost 1-0 to Union Omaha.
