December 10, 2019 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
Tormenta FC has signed Lansing Ignite's Pato Botello Faz for the 2020 season, pending league and federation approval.
The 6'0", 180 pound forward hails from Monterrey, Mexico and was a staple in Lansing's offense in 2019 with 7 goals and 3 assists in 22 games played. Botello-Faz appeared on USL League One Team of the Week twice and received the Player of the Week title both times.
"Pato will be a familiar face on the squad as we saw what he can do first-hand last season playing for Lansing," Head Coach John Miglarese said. "His work rate and box play will add another layer to our attack this season."
Before joining Lansing Ignite, the St. Mary's University graduate played in USL League Two with both Corpus Christi FC and Texas United.
"I'm very grateful and excited for the opportunity to play for Tormenta FC in the 2020 season," Botello-Faz said. "I'm looking forward to working with Coach Miglarese and all my new teammates! Tormenta has been doing great things for years, and I'm excited to join such a good organization and a great community. I can't wait to get to Statesboro and get started."
Botello-Faz is the first new player to join Tormenta's returning veteran core that includes goalkeeper Pablo Jara; defenders Lars Eckenrode, Mike O'Sullivan, Josh Phelps and Jordan Skelton; midfielders Jad Arslan, Lucas Coutinho, Ricardo Gomez, Marco Micaletto and Nil Vinyals; and forward Mikie Rowe.
