South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
STATESBORO, Ga. - In a tough match at Global Life Park in Arlington, Texas, tonight, South Georgia Tormenta FC was outscored by North Texas SC 2-1 with the club's lone but incredible goal scored by Marco Micaletto.
Luca Mayr-Fälten was back on the pitch tonight after sitting out two matches due to an injury. Mayr-Fälten had several promising chances early on, first winning a free kick in the 15th minute in a perfect shooting position, followed by securing a corner kick and a shot from outside the box. Midfielder Ricardo Gomez and forward Azaad Liadi, who is still searching for his first goal of the season, also recorded shots in the first half.
In the 57th minute of play, Italian midfielder Micaletto scored a stunner from a distance to the top left corner, giving Tormenta FC a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, North Texas followed suit with two more goals to solidify its first win in two matches.
Recording a total of eight shots and two on target, Tormenta FC was unable to even up the match in the final minutes, going down to North Texas on the road.
Tonight's Man of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Marco Micaletto who scored Tormenta FC's lone goal tonight and recorded a passing accuracy of 80.8%. Defensively, he made four tackles and recorded four interceptions.
The club's professional side returns home on May 22 to face regional rival Greenville Triumph SC in Erk Russell Park for Military Appreciation Night. Tormenta FC encourages fans to wear masks until the vaccine becomes more widely available. Due to limited capacity, the club urges all fans to purchase their tickets, including season tickets, half-season plans or quarter-season plans, in advance.
