STATESBORO, Ga. - In a clash of two of the best teams in USL League One, South Georgia Tormenta FC got a statement win at home with a 2-1 victory against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Goals from Jamil Roberts and Gabriel Cabral helped Tormenta FC obtain a passionate first win at home. With this win, South Georgia has two consecutive league play wins - two wins that have skyrocketed South Georgia to a solid playoff position.

The first 30 minutes of the first half came with dangerous close calls for the Red Wolves. Two goal-line clearances by the Red Wolves' defense had them lucky to be level. A controversial opportunity saw Kazaiah Sterling chip the opposing goalkeeper and be taken down in the box, but his shot did not have enough power to see it cross the line. Another phenomenal save by the Red Wolves' defensive line saw them clear Billhardts' strike right on the line shortly after.

Roberts opened up his goal-scoring tab for Tormenta FC following a low ball pass by Cabral in the 36th minute of the game. A magnificent play finished with a well-deserved goal for South Georgia after being a menace to the Red Wolves throughout the first half.

Chattanooga found the equalizer shortly before the end of the half after a shot from Carrera Garcia beat Pablo Jara.

In a tough second half for both teams, South Georgia put the pieces together and completed the winning puzzle for the first time this season after a Cabral goal assisted by Sterling. Following a great run by Sterling, a complimenting pass found a lone Cabral in the middle of the penalty, who successfully scored South Georgia's game-winner in the 81st minute.

Tonight's Player of the Match, presented by Galactic Comics and Games, is Kazaiah Sterling. Although Sterling did not appear on the goal sheet tonight, his dangerous presence in the offensive line helped apply pressure to Chattanooga's timid defensive unit. Sterling also assisted in the game-winning goal and started the play that culminated in tonight's first goal.
