South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
STATESBORO, Ga. - Approaching the second half of the 2021 USL League One regular season, South Georgia Tormenta FC hosts Toronto FC II on Wednesday, June 30, at 8 p.m. ET in Erk Russell Park and looks to regain winning momentum. With a 2-1-0 (W-L-D) record versus Toronto this season, Tormenta FC aims to finish the four-match series on a high note with a win in front of Tormenta Nation.
After defeating Toronto FC II with two 1-0 wins, one on the road and one at home, Tormenta FC experienced a setback, going down 1-3 on the road last Wednesday, June 23, to the Canadian side. Stefan Mueller scored the lone goal of the night and his first professional goal, while midfielders Kobe Perez and Marco Micaletto helped Tormenta to its two previous wins.
Tormenta FC and Toronto FC II are comparable offensively in that they've recorded 47 and 48 shots, respectively. Midfielder Luca Mayr-Fälten is a forerunner in League One for both chances created and crosses and continues to open up scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Toronto comes into Wednesday's match after a 2-1 loss against Fort Lauderdale CF and a 3-4-4 record, while Tormenta holds a 5-7-0 record and remains the only League One team to not score a draw this season.
The Statesboro side turns around to host North Carolina FC for the first time this season on Saturday, July 3, at 8 p.m. ET in Erk Russell Park. This Saturday is Community Heroes Night, and Tormenta FC is offering free admittance to the match for all first responders with ID. Fans should purchase their tickets, including half-season plans or quarter-season plans, in advance.
