July 27, 2019 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
After defeating Orlando City B 4-1 on Wednesday, Tormenta FC kicked off its big weekend tonight in Erk Russell Park tonight against Lansing Ignite FC. Tormenta tied to Lansing after a late match goal scored by new loanee Shinya Kadono on his debut for Tormenta.
Throughout the game, the two teams matched in possession, but Tormenta struggled in transitional offense. Tormenta gave up a goal in the 12th minute after Lansing's Rafael Mentzingen scored from the center of the box.
In the 76th minute, Tormenta's new loanee from Loudoun United FC, Shinya Kadono, subbed on for Ricardo Gomez. Kadono proved to make a difference for Tormenta as he scored a goal in the 88th minute, bringing the score 1-1. Kadono's goal was assisted by Alex Morrell.
In stoppage time, Lansing had a chance to pull ahead once again as Elma N'For won a penalty in the box after a foul by Nil Vinyals. N'For's shot couldn't get through Pablo Jara, though, as he made a big block to conserve Tormenta's point.
Tormenta FC now travels to face rival Greenville Triumph SC this Saturday, August 3. who now sit in seventh place after defeating number one North Texas SC 4-0 yesterday. Tormenta 2 hosts the USL League Two Semi-Finals tomorrow against Reading United AC at 8 p.m.
