South Georgia Tormenta FC battle the Richmond Kickers

RICHMOND, Va. - South Georgia Tormenta FC took on the Richmond Kickers in the team's first away match of the season and earned an epic 3-1 victory at City Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
In the early moments of play, keeper Ford Parker made a heroic save as the ball found its way into his box. Just following in the fifth minute, Conor Doyle found the ball and sent it sailing into the top corner of the net, marking the first goal of the night. The goal scored by captain Doyle was his first of the season.
Richmond attempted to find an equalizer in the first half of the game to no avail as Parker made a series of skillful saves, defending Tormenta's early lead.
During the 55th minute, Ajmeer Spengler dribbled past a host of Kickers and sent a pass to Niall Watson, who went one-on-one with Richmond's keeper Pablo Jara and emerged victorious, scoring the second goal of the night. This carefully slotted goal makes Watson's second goal of the season.
As the match progressed, gameplay intensified as Tormenta FC received a total of six yellow cards and the Richmond Kickers received one.
During the six minutes of added time, both teams were searching for a last-minute goal. In the 92nd minute of play, the Richmond Kickers found a goal, which was the team's only goal of the night.
In the last seconds of play, Gabriel Rodriguez sent a pass to Mason Tunbridge, who sent a shot into the back of the net. This electrifying late-in-game goal solidified Tormenta's win against Richmond.
South Georgia Tormenta FC has beaten the Richmond Kickers in City Stadium each game since September 2022. The Ibises were proud to keep this streak alive for the 2024 season.
