"JonPaul loved the game of soccer and being a part of Tormenta," Christina Galbreath-Gonzalez, mother of Jon Paul said. "His teammates were like family, and we have so many memories of watching them grow on and off the field for over 10 years. We are honored that the money raised in memory of JP will provide scholarships and equipment for Tormenta players."
JonPaul, a Bluffton, South Carolina native, passed away in a tragic car accident on December 4, 2021. JP was a member of Tormenta FC Academy for a decade, and his family has been heavily involved with the club since its founding.

"We loved having JP as a member of the Tormenta Family and will forever cherish the warm memories we all made together on and off the soccer field."
The Ibis Foundation continues to accept donations in memory of Gonzalez which will go towards funding player scholarships and equipment for the academy.
"The Ibis Foundation is honored to provide this scholarship in memory of JP Gonzalez," President of The Ibis Foundation Francis Desidero said. "We felt it was important to hear from the Gonzalez family on how to make the biggest impact. At the family's request, this scholarship will provide opportunities for Tormenta FC Academy players for years to come."
Tormenta FC Academy and The Ibis Foundation work together to promote the sport of soccer throughout South Georgia and the Low Country by providing resources and training opportunities to local youth at a significantly lower cost.
