Amarillo Wranglers News Release
(AMARILLO, Texas) The Wranglers host the top-seeded New Mexico Ice Wolves Friday and Saturday.
Amarillo earned three out of four possible points last weekend against the Jackalopes to climb back into the second spot in the tightly contested south division. The Wranglers came up short in Friday's game in a 5-to-4 overtime loss but rallied back with a 5-to-3 win on Saturday.
The Wranglers found help from some new faces on the roster with goals from Jayden Price and TJ Koufis. Defenseman Joey Carollo also found the scoresheet with a few assists over the weekend. Goalie Max Gutjahr earned his 17th win on Saturday. Gutjahr's 17 wins are second in the NAHL, just one win behind New Jersey goalie Andrew Takacs.
Amarillo has stayed busy over the first few days of the week, announcing three roster moves. The first addition to the team is forward CJ Zezima from Northeast Generals in exchange for a 2022 6th round pick. The Wranglers have also acquired Defenseman Jayden Jensen from the Corpus Christi Ice Rays for future considerations. Finally, the Wranglers have tendered defenseman Trey Williams from the Dallas Stars Elite Program. Williams appeared in two games for the Wranglers in the Wichita Falls series on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
The Wranglers (19-10-1-1) look to claim the top spot of the division against the Ice Wolves (20-10-1-1), who are off to the best start in their franchise history. These teams have only played each other once this season in Albuquerque, where the Ice Wolves won by a 3-to-0 score. Both games will begin at 7:05 at the Budweiser Bullpen.
