Summerside Storm News Release

(Summerside, PE) Some may view Thursday nights matchup between the Summerside STORM and London Lightning at Credit Union Place a game which doesn't mean much. Both teams have clinched their respective divisions and both have byes into the NBL semi-finals. So you might think its a game to get out of the way before play-offs. Well, that's not even close.

There is no love lost between the Lightning and STORM. London is the defending NBL Champs and own the best record in the league this year at 33-6. BUT, the only team London has a losing record to this season is the STORM. The STORM have beaten London twice this year, once by 19 points, and their only lose was an overtime game in London and the Ontario team is not to fussy about that. And while there is a lot of water yet to go under the Confederation Bridge, this game could be a preview of the league finals this year.

Game time is set at 7 o'clock Thursday night which is also Easter Seals night at the CUP. This years Easter Seals Ambassador Paxton Cole will be in attendance and will perform the opening ceremonial tip-off. Tickets for this game are also being sold at Tim Horton stores across PEI.

The STORM has also announced that guard Greg Plummer will not be available for the last two games of the regular season as he is back in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York because of the death of a family member.

The STORM has also announced that individual play-off game tickets go on sale Thursday at noon at the Credit Union box office or by going online at www.stormbasketball.ca. STORM fans may also purchase 3 game packages for the semi-finals or 6 game packages for the entire play-offs. The box office opens Thursday morning at 9 o'clock.

STORM will be active in the community during March Break. Anyone wishing to invite the STORM to drop into an event are asked to contact Paul M. Schurman at paulm@stormbasketball.ca or Cassie MacEwen at info.stormbasketball.ca. For more information on the STORM go to www.stormbasketball.ca.
