The stage is set for a return to the home diamond by the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, fresh off a six-game season opening road trip that saw them split six games in San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Back to Springdale, they return to their fans that cheered them on to one of Minor League Baseball's five best home records (44-26) in the Inaugural Season.
Thursday night against San Antonio, the curtain rises on the opening six-game homestand with Opening Night, presented by White Cloud as well as media partners Eagle 93.3, Hot Mix 101.9, KIX104, Magic 107.9 and KNWA. The first 5,000 fans to enter the gates will receive Strike's special 2009 Naturals' schedule magnet, courtesy of White Cloud. In addition, fans will be treated to Opening Night festivities which will include our National Anthem sung by Arkansas' own Trout Fishing in America. Trout Fishing in America recordings have garnered three National Indie Awards and multiple Parents Choice Gold and American Library Awards as well as four Grammy nominations. Other festivities include pre-game live Dixieland music, skydivers delivering the game ball, and a special entrance from everyone's favorite mascot, Strike the Sasquatch! And of course, the first of 13 spectacular post-game fireworks shows, the biggest Northwest Arkansas has to offer. Gates open at 4:30 for Opening Night, and game time is 6 P.M.
Friday marks the return of the fridaynightbash⢠sponsored by Farm Rich alongside media partners KIX104, 360nwa.com, and Fox 24. Friday's game features a special theme: Pink in the Park, as the Naturals gather to raise money and awareness for Komen for the Cure. Naturals players will wear special pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off for charity during the game in a special silent auction held in the stadium concourse. Komen for the Cure will also be conducting our Friday night tradition, Launch-A-Ball. Friday also marks the heavily anticipated return of baseball's chief pooch: Jake the Diamond Dog! Last season, this golden retriever collected our balls and bats as well as our hearts, and returns for a two-game appearance. After Friday night's game, fans will be treated to Post-Game Fireworks and a free beverage upon exit courtesy of Sierra Mist. Fridays are also Northwest Arkansas Community College Affiliation Night, and the 7 P.M. start offers all area students with valid school ID the chance to get $1 off a reserved or lawn seat ticket at our box office! Gates open at 5:30 on Fridays, and come early for $2.50 16 ounce Miller High Life drafts at the Miller Party Shack on the first base line, and on the third base line as well, until 7:30.
Saturday evening's game wraps up the series with San Antonio and begins at 7 P.M. (gates open at 6) and features a special Arvest Ballpark Calendar Giveaway courtesy of Arvest Bank alongside media partners Power 105.7 and KFSM. For the next 12 months, enjoy some of the most spectacular photos from our home, Arvest Ballpark, and last year's playoff squad with this special limited-edition calendar to the first 2,500 fans. Jake the Diamond Dog also will be on hand for the second night of his two-night appearance.
Sunday afternoon begins the series with Corpus Christi and is the first Family Sunday presented by Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products alongside media partners Magic 107.9 and KFSM. Sunday's game begins at 2:30 P.M. (gates open at 1:30), and features a special appearance by Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob Square Pants! A face painter will be on hand, and kids also will have the opportunity to run the bases after every Sunday game, led by members of the J.B. Hunt Transport Knothole Gang.
Monday Night Lights presented by Ozarks Electric Cooperative Corporation alongside media partners Hot Mix 101.9 and KNWA offers fans the chance to bring in their Ozarks Electric bill for $2 off of a Premium, Reserved, or Subway Berm ticket at the ticket window. Mondays also means fans will have the chance to play Baseball Bingo to win prizes from the Morning News. This Monday night is also the first week of our Pack the Park Monday. The Children's House of Northwest Arkansas has been selling tickets to this Monday's game in hopes of raising money to build a new center. The fun begins at 6:30 P.M (Gates open at 5:45).
Tuesday wraps up the series with Corpus Christi and the homestand with Arvest Customer Appreciation presented by Arvest Bank alongside media partners US94, 92.1 The Keg, and KNWA. All Arvest customers presenting a bill, credit card, or debit card at the box office window receive $2 off their Premium, Reserved, or Subway Berm ticket. Its also SWEPCO School Kids Day! Over 5,000 school children from all over Northwest Arkansas will be on hand to send the Naturals off with a win. Kids will also have the chance to get their faces painted and visit the special Petting Zoo at the Park. Lastly, Tuesday's matinee also features HALF PRICE GROUPS- Groups of 20 or more are offered half off our normal ticket prices in the reserved and Subway Berm section. Game time on Wednesday is 11 A.M, and gates open at 10.
