Tulsa Oilers News Release
Holiday Happenings: The Tulsa Oilers host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs tonight, in the last game for each team before Christmas.
Records: Oilers are 10-7-4 with 24 points, in fourth place in the Northeast Division. Bossier-Shreveport is 11-9-4 with 26 points, in third place in the Northeast Division.
Season Series: This is the second of nine meetings between the two teams this season. The Oilers defeated Bossier-Shreveport 5-2 at home on November 3rd, to post their first win of the season.
Roster Moves: The Oilers have placed left winger Dan Carney on waivers. Tulsa will also be without center Bryan LaChapelle tonight, serving a one game league suspension.
Special Match-Up: Things could get interesting whenever a penalty is called tonight. The Oilers have the league's top rated power play at 23.4 percent. However, Bossier-Shreveport leads the CHL in penalty killing with an impressive 91.1 percentage. Neither team fares as well on the other side of the special team ledger. Bossier-Shreveport ranks 17th in power play at 8.7 percent, and the Oilers are only 12th in the league in penalty killing at 82.5 percent.
Déjà vu?: The Oilers are winless in their last three games, having lost two of those in shootouts. Ironically, the last time these teams met, the Oilers were also in a three game winless skid and snapped it with a 5-2 win.
Schedule Adjustment: Last night's postponed game with Wichita will be made up at a later date, yet to be determined. The Oilers already have one rescheduled game on the docket as they will host the Oklahoma City Blazers Sunday January 7th at 3:05 p.m. as a make-up from a December 1st postponement.
Next Up: The Oilers will travel to Oklahoma City Monday night for their annual Christmas night gathering with the Blazers at 7:35. Bossier-Shreveport will host the Memphis RiverKings on Tuesday.
