Tonight's Game Postponed
January 29, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Kentucky Retros News Release
The Kentucky Colonels game with the St. Louis Flight had to be postponed after a freak mishap with one of the goals. During pre-game warm up the goal support that holds the backboard broke at a weld. A Colonels ball boy was under the goal when it fell and was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital with minor injuries.
General Manager Tree Rollins said "I have been in basketball for a long time. I have seen Shaquille (O'Neal), terrorize goals. I have seen backboards shatter, and rims bent, but I have never seen a weld break. I have never seen anything like that."
Team owner Stephanie Roach immediately went to Kosair to visit the ball boy.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
