
Tommy Jones Named Offensive Player of the Week For Divisional Playoff Week Two

EL PASO, TX. : The Indoor Football League announced on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 that El Paso Generals quarterback, Tommy Jones, has been named the VidSwap.com Offensive Player of the Week for Week Two of the IFL Divisional Playoffs. Jones led the Generals to a second round post-season win over the San Angelo Stampede Express back on Sunday, July 26 by the score of 75-37. Jones would complete 15 of 21 passes for 236 yards and six touchdown passes in the win including touchdown passes to three different receivers, Josh Smith (3), DeAngelo Woodie (2) and Lemans Casimier (1).
Jones averaged 15.5 yards a completion during the game with his longest completion being 38 yards. Additionally, Jones was sacked only once through out the game. Jones guided the Generals offense to a 12-2 regular season record and a Lone Star Division Championship. Through out the regular season Jones threw for 3,158 yards and 66 touchdown passes including 116 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. Jones led the IFL in passing yards averaged a game with 225.6 and in total offense with 3,274 yards in 14 games played.
Jones will lead the Generals into Billings, Montana this weekend to face the Billings Outlaws in the Intense Conference Championship Game on Saturday, August 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and the winner will secure a spot in the 2009 United Bowl.
