IFL Announces Vidswap.com Players of the Week
July 29, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA: The Divisional Rounds of playoffs have come and gone, and four teams will now battle for the Intense and United Conference Championships. The winners of this weekends games will get their shot at taking home the first ever Indoor Football League United Bowl Trophy. The winners of this week's awards were instrumental in getting their individual squads to this level. Fans can visit GoIFL.com to see the video highlights that made these young men the VidSwap.com Players of the Week.
DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS ROUND TWO OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -QB TOMMY JONES/EL PASO GENERALS
Tommy Jones, the Second Team All-IFL Quarterback has lit up opposing defenses all season, and continued his aerial assault on the rest of the IFL last weekend against San Angelo. The IFL regular season leader in passing yards completed 15 of his 21 pass attempts for 236 yards and six touchdowns in El Paso's 75-37 victory. He also added an additional ten yards rushing to his total offense. The expansion Generals will need Jones to continue to rack up the yards this weekend as they travel to Billings for the Intense Conference Championship game.
DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS ROUND TWO DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -DB RANDY KELLY/ WICHITA WILD
Shutting down one of the leagues top offenses and one of the IFL's better Quarterbacks is no easy task. But once again Randy Kelly was up to the challenge. Announced as Round One's Special Teams Player of the Week last Wednesday, Kelly decided for this week he would show why he is also considered a top flight defender. In the Wild's 39-34 victory over Omaha, Kelly registered nine solo tackles, four assists, and an interception of Beef QB James McNear that he returned 40 yards to set up a Wichita touchdown. He and the rest of his Wild teammates are now set to host the RiverCity Rage at the Hartman Arena this weekend for an opportunity to bring the United Bowl Trophy home to Wichita.
DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS ROUND TWO SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK-K NATHAN PARSEGHIAN/BILLINGS OUTLAWS
Consistency may be Nathan Parseghian's middle name. All season long the Outlaws kicker has drilled kick after kick for the top seeded team from Billings. He has not missed an extra point all season, as his only blemish in that department was one kick blocked. He may also have the strongest leg in the league as well, hitting on multiple attempts of over 50 yards. Last weekend against Fairbanks, he contributed twelve points by virtue of six extra points and two field goals made. His field goals were both from 27 yards out. Parseghian and the rest of the Outlaws will host the El Paso Generals this weekend for a shot at the first ever IFL United Bowl Trophy.
The Conference Championship games begin Saturday night, August 1st, as the RiverCity Rage head to Kansas to square off against the Wichita Wild and the El Paso Generals travel north to play the Billings Outlaws. Kickoff for both is slated for 7:05 pm. Follow all the action at www.goifl.com and on the B2 broadcasts www.b2livetv.com of each game all season long.
