Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

LUBBOCK,TX – Lubbock Cotton Kings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kirk Tomlinson was suspended by the Central Hockey League for two games – retroactive to the contests in New Mexico and at home against the Memphis Riverkings this past weekend.

"I am just glad this is over," said Tomlinson. "I just want to put this behind us and get in a race for the division title."

Tomlinson was suspended for the team's actions last Thursday against Odessa. The contest had 314 penalty minutes, 13 fights and was ended with over six minutes left in the final frame. Coach Tomlinson joins Rob Vessio(1), Jim Shepherd(1), Craig Binns(2), and J.F. Labarre(2) who have all been suspended this season.

"I appreciate the league coming to a swift decision so that we can have some closure," said Cotton Kings General Manager Mark Adams. "What happened last Thursday was unfortunate but I think adversity will bring this team closer together and put us back on the winning track."

The Kings will face the Jackalopes for the fifth time of the season in the "Jack Shack" in Odessa this Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The Kings will then return home for their third matchup of the year against the San Angelo Saints on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The Kings are 0-4 against Odessa and 1-0-1 against San Angelo – both are division opponents.

"I am looking forward to my returning to action against the Odessa Jackalopes this Friday," said Tomlinson. "I just find it a little ironic that my return behind the bench is against the Jackalopes."

This December, fans can bring a new stuffed animal to the door to receive $4 off any ticket. Tickets can be picked up at Select-a-Seat locations or by calling 806.747.PUCK (7825).
