Bucks Rally in Third to Beat Rayz

The Corpus Christi Rayz led the Laredo Bucks for almost 53 minutes of Tuesday afternoon's game, however three unanswered Bucks goals in the final period propelled the Bucks past the Rayz 4-2 at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

The Rayz, didn't trail in the hockey game until James Hiebert scored a power play goal late in the third period. The Corpus Christi Rayz have never won in the Laredo Entertainment Center in nine chances and lost there for the second time this season when bringing a lead into the third period.

The Rayz looked to be in good position after the first period when Cosmo Dupaul converted a pass from Chris Page on a two on one breakaway for his second goal of the season. The Bucks tied the goal on the power play on a blast from the right point by Serge Dube, who beat rookie goaltender Rob Garrick to tie the score. The Rayz recaptured their lead late in the first period when Ken Richardson batted home a rebound chance in front of Bucks goaltender Marco Emond. Cosmo Dupaul and Trent Brandvold got the assists.

However, the Rayz were never able to amount a offensive attack in the final two periods. They recorded a season low 2 shots in the second period and only three shots in the third. Garrick was exceptional in defeat, making 31 saves and keeping the Rayz in the game, and ahead for much of it.

The Bucks tied the game on a goal by Brent Cullaton from a bad angle when he banked it in off of Garrick's skate and into the net. Cullaton added an empty net goal with 14 seconds left.

The Rayz moved to 11-10-3 on the season and remain two points back from the final playoff spot in the Southern Conference. They are 2-5 against Laredo this season. The Bucks improved their CHL leading record to 21-4-1 for 43 points. These two teams will meet again on Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
