Tomahawks Take Command of Series

Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Penn. - The Johnstown Tomahawks faced off for the second of three home games against the Rebels during Military Appreciation Weekend. The Tomahawks looked to take another two points, and did so with authority.

Both teams couldn't seem to stay out of the penalty box, and tensions increased as the game progressed. The Tomahawks were able to maintain some discipline in between whistles, and put on an offensive clinic that was complimented by strong defensive play.

Defenseman Matthew Doyle scored his first goal of the season late in the 2nd period to close out the Tomahawks offense onslaught that resulted in a 6-1 victory. The defense played another tight game, allowing a mere 16 shots on goals by the Rebels.

If Friday and Saturday were any indication of what's to come on Sunday, fans can expect another chippy, blue collar game that's right on par with what's become commonplace when the Tomahawks and Rebels face each other.

The Tomahawks have increased their lead over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the NAHL East Division, remaining in 2nd place by 7 points, and are now just 3 points behind the division leading New Jersey Titans.
