Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
MIDDLETOWN, New Jersey - The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the New Jersey Titans 4-1 in the final game of the weekend series.
Unlike the night before, it was Johnstown who took the early lead. Over three and a half minutes into the game, Spencer DenBeste scored his 14th goal of the year and second of the weekend to put the Tomahawks up 1-0. Tensions started to rise shortly after, as both teams racked up a combined 35 minutes of penalty time in the period.
New Jersey answered back quickly once the 2nd period began, with Ole Andersen scoring on the power play to tie the game at one. Johnstown would later score a power play tally of their own, courtesy of Malik Alishlalov and his third goal of the season. Less than five minutes later, Andrew Murphy would net his fifth of the year to increase the Tomahawks' lead to 3-1.
Johnstown would add one more goal in the 3rd period. Christian Gorscak would tally his 14th goal of the season and third point of the night to put the Tomahawks up 4-1. That's all they would need to secure the victory.
With the win, Johnstown now has 40 points on the year and remain in second place in the East Division behind New Jersey (45 points). The two teams will meet two more times this season, once in January and once in March.
