Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The North Division Semi-Final Series will come down to the last three games to decide a winner. On Friday night, the Toledo Walleye pulled even in the series, scoring a power play goal 2:08 into the contest, before tacking on three more tallies in the second period. Sahir Gill netted a power play goal in the third period for the Wheeling Nailers, who fell 4-1 at WesBanco Arena.

One goal was scored during the first period, and it came quickly, as the Walleye took only 2:08 to take the lead, which included six seconds of power play time. An offensive zone draw was won back to Shane Sims at the left point. Sims fed the puck to Shane Berschbach, who immediately set up Troy Schwab on the left side of the slot. Schwab buried the shot for his third goal and seventh point of the series.

For the second straight game, the middle frame was controlled by the visitors, as Toledo dented the twine three times. Shane Berschbach potted the first marker, as he received a cross-slot pass from Tyler Barnes, before flipping a shot over Eric Hartzell's left leg. 1:16 later, the Walleye struck again, when Justin Mercier picked up the rebound of Joel Chouinard's shot, hesitated for a moment, then roofed a backhand shot from the right circle. With 3:22 remaining, Kyle Bonis bagged the final goal of the frame, as AJ Jenks stole the puck and gave him the pass, which he deposited into the smallest of areas in the top-right corner of the cage.

Although the final score didn't go their way, the Nailers got one positive to build on in the third period. With 7:57 left in the contest, Sahir Gill skated to the middle of the offensive zone, firing a wrist shot through traffic, which found its way through for a power play goal. Zack Torquato and Eric Hartzell assisted on the tally.

Jeff Lerg made 19 saves for the second game in a row, picking up the win for Toledo. Eric Hartzell suffered the setback in his first professional playoff start, despite stopping 25 of the 29 shots he faced.

Game five of the North Division Semi-Final Series will take place on Saturday at WesBanco Arena, beginning at 7:35.

April 25th will be game five of the series at WesBanco Arena, with McDonald's Friends & Family Packages available. Fans can get four tickets, four hats, and four McDonald's Value Meal Coupons for $39.99.
