
Toledo Signs Forward Michael Pelech

(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Walleye and head Coach Nick Vitucci announced today that Forward Michael Pelech (PELL-ik) has agreed to terms for the 2011-12 season.
Pelech, a native of Toronto, Ontario, has spent the prior two seasons in the ECHL with the Ontario Reign. Mike appeared in 135 games with the Reign, scoring 20 goals with 43 assists and accumulating 260 penalty minutes. Pelech also appeared in five games last year with the Manchester Monarchs in the AHL.
"Mike is a big physical gritty player with great hands," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We are looking for him to be a big contributor for us up the middle this year"
The 21-year-old was drafted in 2009 by the Los Angeles Kings in the 6th round (156th overall) following his junior career. Pelech ranked first on Mississauga's 2008-09 team in points with 49, third on the team in goals with 19, and second in assists with 46.
