Wilson Tobs News Release
The Wilson Tobs are excited to announce the addition of Max Gagnon as the Assistant General Manager for the 20th Anniversary Season within the Coastal Plain League for the 2016 season.
Gagnon joins the Tobs staff after spending the previous two summers with fellow CPL organization High Point-Thomasville HiToms in the roles of Director of Baseball Operations and most recently Assistant General Manager, of which Tobs President Greg Suire is also the President.
A native of Raleigh, Gagnon attended The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) where he played baseball from 2009-2014. Having completed his undergraduate degree in Sports Management in the spring of 2013, Gagnon continued his education with a Masters degree in Sports Administration from UNCP while finishing his redshirt senior campaign for the Braves in the 2013-2014 school year.
A recent 2015 December graduate of UNCP graduate school, Gagnon's thesis titled "Preferred Leadership Styles within Minor League Baseball Organizations' Front Offices" looked at the interworking within front offices of MiLB in order to determine what type of leadership styles are most effective with certain employees.
When asked about what makes Gagnon stand out as the ideal candidate as the new Assistant GM, Tobs President Suire stated,"Familiarity of the CPL landscape is important. Having played the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the HiToms, and working for the same organization in 2014 and 2015, Gagnon knows the culture within the league."
When asked about the teams in the CPL and their community, Gagnon stated, "Each organization should have a special tight knit bond with the community surrounding it. I am excited for the opportunity to be in eastern North Carolina and help continue the success the Tobs have experienced in previous seasons and make this season one to remember. I am thrilled and honored for this opportunity. I have played and worked for Greg Suire in High Point-Thomasville for the last four seasons and I am excited to have the chance to step into a full-time role with the other organization that he is involved with. I hope to continue the strong relationship between the Tobs and the local community during the celebration of the 20th Anniversary season within the CPL."
