Wilson Tobs News Release

WILSON, N.C.- The Wilson Tobs signed two Georgia Southern outfielders over the weekend, bringing the Tobs within two players of finalizing their roster for the season.

Logan Baldwin and CJ Ballard are two consistent starters for the Eagles and are looking to bring solid wood to the hitting lineup as well as two dangerous arms in the outfield.

Baldwin has started in 53 games for the Eagles this season and is the team leader in batting average (.311). The sophomore has accrued 66 hits over the course of the year, a team high as well.

As a freshman for the Eagles, Ballard appeared in 38 games, seven of which he recorded multiple hits. During his junior and senior years of high school, Baldwin was named to the Best of Preps list and earned a pre-season All-State nod in 2014.

Baldwin also has the ability to pitch if needed. He has recorded one save this season in two relief appearances.

Meanwhile, Ballard, a true freshman, has been quietly batting a solid .264 through 51 games played. Proving himself as a clutch hitter, Ballard has pushed across 20 runs on his 33 hits this season.

Ballard graduated with honors from Pike County High School in Zebulon, Ga. There, he batted three consecutive years over .450 and helped Pike to a region title.

Both players also add a threat of speed to the roster as well. Baldwin is 15-20 stealing bases this year. However, he is bested by percentage by Ballard who is an almost perfect 5-6.

Baldwin and Ballard have helped the Eagles to a 31-22 record overall and a 14-13 record in the Sun Belt. Their contributions have aided the Eagles in victories over teams like Georgia and No. 23 Clemson.
