Nick Lamberti (UConn) went 4-4 at the plate as the Torrington Titans (23-24) took home a 5-2 victory over the Pittsfield Suns (22-27) at Fuessenich Park on Tuesday. He singled in the first, second, sixth, and seventh innings.
Taylor Luciani's (Quinnipiac) seven strikeouts helped the Torrington Titans to the victory. Luciani allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk over five innings. Alex FIshberg (Iona) collected his fourth save in his last five appearances after a scoreless 9th inning to put the Suns away.
Matt Van Riper (1-3) took the loss for the Pittsfield Suns. He lasted four innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
The Titans lowered their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to 3 with the win over the Suns. The Titans are back in action at home on Wednesday night against the Bristol Blues at 7:00 p.m. Frank Valentino (Suffolk County CC) will start for the Titans, who look for their second straight win against the Blues.
