Titans Go Heavy with Forwards in 2020 NAHL Entry Draft

July 22, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) - New Jersey Titans News Release

The North American Hockey league held its annual Entry Draft yesterday and the New Jersey Titans went heavy with forwards having selected 13 of them out of 17 picks.

The Titans selected St. Sebastian's School (Flushing, NY) defenseman Ryan MacDermott as its number one pick (24th overall). The 6'0", 179 lb. Norwell, MA native is a right-handed shot and 2002 birth year.

Because the Titans had many age out players from the recently concluded season, New Jersey entered the draft having 16 out of 17 picks. The Titans had traded their second-round pick to the Johnstown Tomahawks back on April 3 for defenseman Matt Doyle.

Prior to the start of the draft, head coach and general manager Craig Doremus pulled the trigger on a trade that sent the Titans second and fourth round picks of the 2021 entry draft to the Austin Bruins in exchange for the Bruins second round pick in yesterday's entry draft. New Jersey then selected goaltender Louden Hogg (2002 birth year) from Edina High School of Edina, MN.

Ten (59%) of the Titans selections were 2002 birth year while five (29%) were 2001 birth year.

The Titans main camp runs from August 3 through August 6 at the Middletown Sports Complex.
