Orlando Titans News Release

PHILADELHIA, Pa. -- Casey Powell scored three goals and added three assists to lead the Orlando Titans to a 11-5 win over Philadelphia on Friday night. The win lifted the Titans to 10-5 on the season and kept alive their hopes of a getting the top overall seed in the playoffs.

The game was close for the first half as the teams battled to a 3-3 tie. But back-up goalie Kurtis Wagar shut out the Wings in the third period and Powell scored all three of his goals in the quarter as the Titans took a 7-3 lead.

From there, Orlando outscored Philadelphia 4-2 the rest of the way for the easy win. Wagar was perhaps the story of the game. Titans head coach Ed Comeau decided to give starting all-star goalie Matt Vinc the night off and Wagar responded with an all-star performance of his own, stopping 40 of 45 shots for an .889 save percentage.

The Titans got goals from eight different players. In addition to Powell's six points, Pat Maddalena had four points on two goals and two assists. Ryan Boyle had a goal and pair of assists. Drew Westervelt led the Wings with two goals and an assist.

The Titans conclude their 2010 regular season Saturday night against the Minnesota Swarn. A win would give the Titans a franchise record 11 regular season wins on the season. Combined with a Rochsester win over Washington (10-5), Orlando could clinch the top overall spot in the playoffs.
