New Jersey Jr. Titans Celebrate a Goal

MIDDLETOWN, N.J. -With first place in the NAHL East Division on the line once again, it was even and it needed a shootout to determine the winner. The Titans were the ones to come away with the win and first place by two points.
It is also the Titans' fifth straight win and second in a shootout.
After allowing the first two Aston shooters to score in the shootout, Titans goaltender Spencer Wright kept the rest out as the Titans scored three straight to win it.
Keegan Miller had the door shut on him at the last second as he tried to sneak one past Rebels' goalie Trevor Micucci. The following three shooters were no match as Jesse Farabee, Roberts Smits, and Andrew Durham kept it simple and got Micucci moving side-to-side. Durham scored the game-winning goal.
The game was so evenly matched that after one period in multiple categories. Each team had nine shots on goal, no goals, and no penalties.
It also appeared to be much of the same in the second period. The deadlock continued until the 16:54 mark when Smits recorded the first game tally. The Titans were jabbing away at the puck up against the cage and had Micucci down on the ice trying to cover. The whistle never blew as New Jersey was able to have control of the rebound before Joe Shuler and Anthony Cusanelli found Smits open in the slot.
The Latvian born forward was able to get his shot off before Miccuci could get back up for his 11th goal of the season.
The Rebels answered at 3:45 of the first period after Eric Carreras redirected an Austin Swingle shot past Wright who was going the other direction.
The stalemate continued and set up the overtime and shootout.
