Titans and Nordiques Wrap up East Divisional Semi-Final Series
May 27, 2021 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
New Jersey Titans News Release
After splitting the first two games last weekend in Lewiston, ME, the Titans and Nordiques resume their Robertson Cup East Division's best-of-five semi-final series with games three and four being played at the Middletown Sports Complex on Thursday, May 27 and Friday, May 28 respectively with puck drops scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Should a game five be needed, the deciding contest will be held on Sunday, May 30 at 7:00 PM at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Regardless, the winner of this series will play against the winner of the Johnstown Tomahawks and Maryland Black Bears series (Maryland currently leads the series two games to one) beginning next week for the East Division Championship.
This series has been evenly matched with both teams playing well defensively, scoring timely goals and getting the needed goaltending to stay in the games. Despite each team winning a game, the Titans have outscored the Nordiques by two goals (4 - 2).
Stefan Owens leads the Nordiques with two total points (1 goal and 1 assist) while Cannon Green and Owens have scored Maine's goals. Isaiah Fox leads the Nordiques with sixteen penalty minutes in the series. Four different players are a +1. Maine's Tyriq Outen has played outstanding between the pipes posting a 2.00 goals against average (fifth in the league) and .934 save percentage (fifth in the league) with one shutout (39 saves in game one).
Neither team has converted on their powerplay opportunities. Maine is 0 for 4 while the Titans are 0 for 2.
Nick Seitz (two goals) and Jack Ring (1 goal and 1 assist) each have two points to lead the Titans in total points while Seitz has scored the most goals (two). Matthew Iasenza leads the Red Buckets with twelve penalty minutes. Seitz also has a team high +3. Titans netminder Christian Stoever has been exceptional in the first two games. He is posting a 1.00 goals against average (second in the league) and .973 save percentage (best in the league).
Fans are encouraged to attend the Titans pre-game experience starting at 5 PM each night on the outside on the turf between rinks 1 and 2 weather permitting (it will be moved inside should there be inclement weather). Food will be available along with a cash bar.
All fans will receive a Titans 2020-21 team photo and a red rally towel while supplies last. Fans are also encouraged to wear a red shirt.
