Infielder Carlos Luis transferred from Single-A Lake Elsinore to High-A Fort Wayne

Outfielder Albert Fabian transferred from Single-A Lake Elsinore to High-A Fort Wayne

Infielder/outfielder Reinaldo Ilarraza transferred from Arizona Complex League to High-A Fort Wayne

LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps lost to the Cubs, 5-4, on Tuesday. Joshua Mears hit his first home run at Parkview Field in the 8th. In a bullpen day, the 'Caps struck out 16 batters. Jarryd Dale and Olivier Basabe had multiple hits.

WELCOME ABOARD, AND BACK: Today the Padres added 3 players to the TinCaps' roster in 22-year-old infielder Carlos Luis, the reigning California League Player of the Week; 20-year-old corner outfielder Albert Fabian; and 23-year-old infielder/outfielder Reinaldo Ilarraza, who was with the team earlier this season and past years.

TRADE DEADLINE: 4 TinCaps were traded earlier this week by the Padres. In Monday's trade for Brewers closer Josh Hader, starter Robert Gasser was sent to Milwaukee. Tuesday, outfielder Robert Hassell III was dealt to Washington in a deal to bring Juan Soto and Josh Bell to San Diego. Hassell was San Diego's top-rated prospect before being dealt. Outfielder Corey Rosier and infielder Max Ferguson were traded to Boston later Tuesday.

WHAT'S BEEN LOST: Among qualifying players in the Midwest League, Hassell ranked 4th in average (.299) and RBIs (55), 9th in OBP (379), and 10th in OPS (.846). His 134 wRC+ ranked 9th... Gasser ranked 3rd in strikeouts (115) and 9th in ERA (4.18) and WHIP (1.26)... Rosier led the league in runs (69) and triples (8) while ranking 4th in steals (33), 6th in walks (54), and 8th in OBP (.381)... Ferguson is 5th in MiLB in steals (55).

HOT CAPS: The TinCaps are undefeated over their last 4 series (July 4-10 vs. LC: 3-3, July 12-17 vs. LAN: 4-2, July 22-24 @ DAY: 2-1, July 26-31 @ PEO: 3-3), their longest unbeaten series-streak of the year.

JOSHUA MEARS: In the last six games, he's 7-for-25 (.320) with a team-best 1.000 OPS. He is amid his longest hit streak as a TinCap this year: 6 games. Between the Complex League and High-A, he's on a 13-game on-base streak dating back to June 28... His homer Thursday had an exit velocity of 114 MPH. For context, Padres All-Star Manny Machado has a max exit velo of 112 MPH this season.

JARRYD DALE: Ranks 3rd in the MWL in games (93) and 5th in walks (58).
