Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

With only 10 home games remaining on the TinCaps 2010 season schedule, time is running out for chances to catch the team at Parkview Field. While the regular season may be wrapping up, the TinCaps' opportunities to match or surpass marks set during the 2009 season are still on the horizon.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps season attendance is currently on pace to shatter the previous mark of 378,529 set in Parkview Field's inaugural season. "It just goes to show that Fort Wayne has some of the best fans in the country," stated TinCaps Team President, Mike Nutter. "Attendance is up almost 10% from last year with some great games still to be played."

If the TinCaps continue to average 5,728 fans per game during the teams remaining 10 home contests the team will end the season with over 400,000 in regular season attendance for the first time in the franchise's history. "While the 400,000 mark is just a number, it is a significant milestone," said Nutter. "It puts us on par with some of the great cities in the country in terms of support of their home town teams. It would be a feather in the cap for the community to show such strong support. We have some great entertainment planned for these last 10 games - we always like to end with a bang!"

The TinCaps players are also looking to duplicate the playoff magic that led to the 2009 team's Midwest League Championship. "The team is really coming together heading into the final stretch," stated Nutter. After a slow start to the season due to youth at key positions, the team has put together an overall record of 66-53, and is currently in control of the 1st qualifying position in the Eastern Division's 2nd half playoff race. "The TinCaps are heating up as we approach the playoffs," said Nutter. "We've seen the team win 7 of their last 10 games, and this is the right time for this team to be playing their best baseball of the season. Once you get to the playoffs anything can happen, just like we saw last year."
